Colon Cleansing

The importance of the direct relationship between colon health and general health cannot be over-emphasized.

Cleansing the colon is an integral and vital part of most detoxification programmes and is usually achieved by the use of either enemas or colonic hydrotherapy, such as colonic irrigation, clysmatics or colemas.

The first question most people ask is "what is the difference between enemas and colon hydrotherapy?"Although colonic irrigation is a little different to an enema, the fundamental purpose and results are similar – they both encourage and support elimination via the body’s organs - and as a consequence, promote deeper cleansing and elimination at cell and tissue level.

At Detox International we favour the use of enemas to achieve the greatest level of detoxification and to support the action of both the colon AND the liver. The most frequently used enema liquid in this respect is organic coffee – which is one of the most effective stimulants of the liver and encourages it to detoxify at a faster rate. During a coffee enema, the flow of bile, which is an important outlet for toxins, is increased, leading to greater elimination. However, individuals vary in their ability to detoxify, so we also tailor each enema to personal needs, including the use of specific detoxification herbs as well as soothing herbs such as Aloe Vera or Chamomile.

In this way, by combining colon cleansing with specific nutrients and herbs which help to purge the body the toxins, thorough detoxification can be achieved - revitalizing the entire body at cell level.
